You simply call the 1 800 number and withing seconds, your credit card charges are reversed, usually within seconds. So, I do not know if this is true, since I have cut 30 to 50 or so keys and they have all worked, perfectly.

The key machine worked great. My guess is, due to the nature of the activity, it’s probably better than a human. It’s always fun when you get home and the copy doesn’t work! I think we’ve all had that happen before.

I just now have mastered the ‘self’ checkout……:).

When automation goes wrong is usually when it gets a little sticky……

First of all, those new Coke machines are killer, and it’s funny you mention them, because they are a perfect example of a good way to use automation.

I agree with you on the challenges with automating a department store; since those robots don’t exist yet, it probably just means self checkout. Hopefully, there will be other innovations too, but it is hard to envision what those would be.

Thanks for stopping by Chase!

Copying a key, ordering flooring, even mixing paint (something like those automatic Coke machines where everything comes out of one spout). But I don’t know how to automate things inside a retail clothes store like JCPenny’s.

Do you replace the registers with self-serve? That’ll free up some cashiers but now customers have to fiddle with that ink spot tag removal.

Robots that stocked and hung up clothes would be cool. But probably not feasible yet.

I just don’t know how to replicate an experience like yours from Lowes inside a store like JCPenny’s. Course, that’s why I’m not in the retail business any more.
